Day 54 – Terre Haute Rest Day III

You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough. — Mae West

We stopped by John-Michael’s former workplace and were thankful to be greeted by so many friendly faces.

Kathy, who holds a secret family recipe for the most amazing chocolate covered toffee in the galaxy, presented us with a container full of the yummy concoction.  The photograph below was taken at the end of the day.  You may notice that it’s already almost gone.

After leaving, we met with Austin, who was interviewing us for an article in our Alma mater’s (Indiana State University) online magazine.  We promise we won’t let all of the attention go to our heads.  We still contend that we are just a pair of knuckleheads going for a long walk.

After the interview we got together with Bill, who’s a motorcycle enthusiast.  We talked about our plans for walking, and he and his wife’s plans for riding cross-country this spring.  Hopefully our two journey’s can intersect further west.   Before leaving, he gave us each a guardian bell to attach to our carts.  You can read about guardian bells here.

We later headed back to Indiana State University to meet with some great people from the Alumni Association.

Rex, Lisa, and Hillary

They presented us with some fantastic ISU swag, including pins with the fitting phrase “March On”, that we attached to our backpacks as soon as we arrived home.

We ended the day dining, relaxing, and conversing with several friends at a local eatery.

The T-town Crew

Mark (whose class we visited yesterday) and Chrissy, who arrived after the group photo, thus ensuring they got some extra face-time.
