Day 61 - Among the Amish

“Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.” – Arthur Ashe

We opted to do some laundry on our way out of Arcola.  The warmer days equate to smellier clothes.

I wonder if the protection provided by this designated cart crossing applies to Walden and Samwise.

Nearly every utility pole on the main street in Arcola has the likeness of a member of the local high school football team on it.

Our route from Arcola to Arthur, IL is in the heart of Illinois Amish country.  There’s something charming about hearing the clip-clop of horse hooves and watching fields being plowed without machinery.  As in Pennsylvania, out of respect for the Amish people and their beliefs and traditions, we refrained from photographing them.  Our short walk was filled with other scenes of beauty here in the heartland.

I believe the Yoders consider this cheating.
